Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 3) by J.R. Ward

I know a lot of people love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, but I’m only listing this one book because the story was close to profound. It almost made me forget the nonsensical bits of JR Ward’s vampire world (like being able to unlock doors with your mind) and the oh so annoying boy club crap.

The lead character, Zsadist, is so conflicted you will want to cry for him. His issues are so sympathetic that, again, you will want to cry for him. The author managed to take a twisted character and craft one of the great love stories in PNR. If you were only going to read one book from the series, this it is.
