Dead to the World (Sookie Stackhouse: True Blood, Book 3) by Charlaine Harris
Rating 9 out of 10
Well, sure you’re going to have to read the first two books in the Sookie Stackhouse True Blood series to appreciate and understand this book. Still it’s the best of the entire bookshelf. It’s not easy to find tender moments in the True Blood world. That’s why they’re so precious. Eric Northman is one of the best bad boys ever conceived. Got to love us some Eric, but you’ve also got to be able to separate the books from the HBO series.
If I could, I would go back to before I had seen the TV series and never watch it. In a way it ruined the series for me just as the images in a music video have the power to undermine a wonderful song. It’s hard to separate imagery once your mind has grabbed onto it. Like many people, my Eric was nothing like the character cast in the TV series just as the TV version only resembles the books to a point.
If you are a True Blood virgin, my advice is to read the books and never look at the HBO version.
